Happy New Year (and Updates) from Pollux!

Hello Everyone,

We hope this email finds you well and warm. It’s a brand spanking new year and we have much to update you on.   And what’s our new year’s resolution you might ask?  Well, simply put, it’s to see more of you.  Now, on to the new year’s news!

Pollux plays Slim’s on Friday, January 15th!
We couldn’t be more excited about our first show of the new year and what a show it is.  We are lucky to be teamed up once again with local heroes Luce (http://www.luceband.com/) who always put on an amazing show.  On top of that Ryan Auffenberg (http://www.ryanauffenberg.com), from Halstead, will be playing too.  We hope to see you there as this will be one amazing show at one amazing venue.  We love seeing shows at Slim’s and we honestly couldn’t be more excited to play there.  This is definitely a show that you don’t want to miss!

This show is coming up fast and will likely sell out, so make sure to get your tickets beforehand.   You can order them online here:

Carey does tribute to Jeff Buckley
Back in November, Carey traveled out to the windy city to play two sold out solo shows at the infamous Uncommon Ground nightclub.  This was the site of the 12th annual Jeff Buckley Tribute Show and was attended by artists and fans from all over the world.  It was an awesomely inspiring event.

You can see some video of Carey’s solo performances at

Pollux plays the Rickshaw Stop on Thursday, March 4th!
We couldn’t be more stoked about this show.  Salesforce.com is putting together a wonderful night at the Rickshaw Stop to benefit the George Mark Children’s House (http://www.georgemark.org).  Pollux and our great friends and local favorites Gun and Doll Show (http://gunanddollshow.com) will be tearing up the stage, followed by a special guest DJ.  More on that to come. Tickets will soon be on sale but mark your calendars as this will sell out fast.

Pollux debuts a new look and feel
We are proud to say that we have graduated beyond just communicating via MySpace and our newsletters - http://www.polluxmusic.com is officially up!   Of course we are still adding content and tweaking things but this is now the place where all things Pollux related will be aggregated.  Big thanks and hugs to Aaron Dietz (http://aarondietz.com/) for helping us out with the design and feeds.

That’s it for now from Pollux HQ.  We have many more exciting things to share with you that are in the works but we don’t want to spoil the surprise of things like Pollux music on TV/Film, a midwest tour, a new album in the works and much, much more.

We hope to see you at Slim’s on January 15th!   We’ll be back in touch well before then.  :-)

XO,
Carey

Kevin is moving!

Don’t fret - Kevin’s studio, Spliggityfidge, will still remain in Emeryville and we will gloriously take as much advantage of that wonderful space as we can.

However, Kevin is moving in with Patty just 4 short blocks from his studio and we are incredibly excited for the two of them.

Rumor is that their 3 (or is it 4?) bedroom house comes complete with a bonafide “man cave” equipped with an upright piano and a soon-to-be moved jazz kit, upright bass and…..me.

Just kidding.  Maybe.

Hugs to Kevin and Patty.

Ziggy rules….

No, not the cartoon (ok maybe).

Some of you may not know that our own Matthew Charles Heulitt is acting guitar slinger in the legendary Zigaboo Modeliste’s funk band.

Zigaboo is aptly called the “Godfather of Groove”.  Do yourself a favor and go see them live.

You will undoubtedly be as smitten with them as we are.

Pollux at American Music Hall

Wow.  Did you have fun at the CD release show at Great American Music Hall last weekend?   We sure did.  From the venue and the lights to the sound and the crowd, it all came together for quite an amazing evening.   We loved watching The Gun and Doll Show and Luce perform too.  We can’t thank all of you enough for all of your support and coming out to the show.   Kirk Hamilton gave a nice write up about it here - http://murfinsandburglars.com/2009/07/12/pollux-and-the-gun-and-doll-show-great-american/.  His review on Gun & Doll Show is spot on too.
